    Offering Compliments Can Be Powerful
Who in our midst doesn't want to receive compliments? OK, many of us are uncomfortable receiving compliments and respond with phrases for example "it was nothing" or "no big deal" or even an awkward "thanks." I am aware that when i find myself responding like that sometimes. In operation, just as in your life, offering compliments can be powerful, and may significantly help in aiding employee motivation. For compliments to work, though, they must have several components:

    1. They ought to be genuine are available from the heart. In the event you give compliments in order to motivate employees, they will think what you are saying aren't authentic, and you also won't have the value you intended.

    2. Be specific. Do not simply say "good job using the presentation." Tell them specifically think about the presentation was effective. Did they maintain the audience engaged? Was this content just right? The more specific you are, the higher the likelihood they'll continue doing this same behavior.

    3. Tell the recipient within the moment. Whether or not they are dressed especially nicely today, handled a customer situation masterfully, or you've noticed them working on improving their skills inside a specific area...anything, inform them right them. The strength of the compliment is incorporated in the present, not a couple weeks from now once they won't even remember the things they did.

    4. Provide them with freely and quite often. You cannot use compliments once a month and hope it can help with employee motivation. You need to provide them with freely and quite often. That isn't to express each day, and even each week. Noticing what other medication is doing and letting them know is impactful.

    5. Encourage others to offer compliments. It is usually nice to know from your boss which they think you did something wonderful. It's exciting to know it from others...colleagues and other managers. Should you develop a culture where workers are asked to recognize each other's performance, celebrate it effective beyond imagination.

    6. Be mindful how often you compliment. Yes, it is critical to recognize a job well done, but you don't want to dilute the need for the compliment. Employee motivation is going to be lessened if you compliment every little thing. Recognize the big accomplishments and share your emotions about the subject.

Offering compliments may go a long way toward improving employee motivation, when they are used properly at the best time. You might have trouble accepting compliments from others so you believe it is equally challenging to let them have. In the event you recognize yourself here, remember: You are not complimenting on just anything, but on stuff that the thing is as significant. Start small when you have to, but start dishing out those compliments.
